‘The studio is a place of improvisation, contemplation and playfulness.’
Jane Pryor (b.1958 London, UK) lives and works near Cambridge, UK. She studied Fine Art BA at Central St Martins and post-graduate painting with Turps Art School, London. She has exhibited throughout the UK and internationally. Her work is in private collections and a Swedish public art collection.
She has received two Arts Council funding awards as lead artist for community photographic projects in 2021 and 2024.
Jane works in non-objective abstraction across painting and sculpture. Unplanned, both paintings and sculptures evolve. Present in her process is the notion of Kairos, the opportune moment; fragments and ideas jostle and sidle up to one another, unfixed and mutable. Central to her work is colour and shape, and the emotional resonance that accompanies these two elements.
